The Enviromental Sampling and Monitoring of Water Quality Project.(Northern Reqion of Taiwan)

Absrtact
The project is to monitoring water quality of various water bodies, so that the changes of water quality to the time and pollution assessment for those water bodies could be provided to the relevant environmental agencies for making a sound pollution control decision. There are a hundred and thirty-one sampling spots to monitoring the stream water quality including thirty-five streams and branches once every month. The result of the project shows a major factor influenced the water quality was the weather. A critical drought took place in northern part of Taiwan this year produced far more less rain than the same time in past years. Therefore, concentration of many pollutants were found higher than usual. On the other hand, the seasonal results of thirty-six coastal monitoring spots for the six marine water regions appear that the DO are ever found exceeding their relative marine water quality standards. In addition, two recreational coasts has been intensively monitoring once every two weeks during summer period between June and September. Generally, the water quality of these two coastal regions seems to be good except for the the influence of the stream input caused by chawging path on Fu-long Coast. Regarding on the reservoir water quality, thirty-four monitoring spots for the thirty-four dams has sampled worse quality of water in this year due to the lack of rain fall and the drop of water to the warning level. Finally, for those a hundred and twenty-seven ground water monitoring wells within seven municipal regions in northern Taiwan, NH3-N and Mn reach the Ground Water Monitoring Standard in second category.
